Biossance, Skincare with Integrity
I couldn’t be more excited to share with you today’s post. In part, because I’m a bit of a beauty product junkie and a nerd about all things science and art. But mostly because I get to let you in on my skincare secret sauce, Biossance!
The more and more I learn about holistic health, how we nourish our bodies with certain foods and ingredients; I’m also discovering the importance of the ingredients within skincare products as well. Let me first preface that I’m not going in the direction of non-toxic skincare or lifestyle, but I’m building a lot more awareness on some of the products that can potentially cause harm to our bodies and environments. Unfortunately, some of those things can be found in what we put on our skin.
Biossance has been able to create 100% plant based squalane sustainably from sugarcane. Not only is it sustainable, but it instantly hydrates from head to toe locking in essential moisture. Squalane has been proven to better accelerate skin cell turnover by 53%. It’s the absolute perfect addition to my skincare regiment since I’ve been experiencing more dryness in my skin as I age. On top of their science based skincare, Biossance has also done their part in making sure that the products they produce are created with higher standards by banning over 2,000 potentially harmful ingredients from their products. An incredible achievement considering that the Personal Care Regulation in the U.S. only bans 11 and Europe over 1,300. Personally, I just find that amazing because as much as I really want to be more aware about all these potentially harmful ingredients I just don’t have the time to do all that research. Below are a few of the Biossance products I’ve been using and love.
The first Biossance product I used was their trusted 100% Squalane Oil, which you can use all over your face, body, and hair. When I first got this product it was just the beginning of my face oil journey and I wasn’t quite sure about putting oil on my face considering all the things I learned about skincare in my 20s, which were don’t use oil, use cream. So instead I used it on my hair. After a few uses I couldn’t believe what it did for my beat up coif so I started to use their Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil for my face. It’s been my trusted travel partner throughout all my recent summer trips and has helped keep my skin hydrated under all the sun exposure.
Next is the Squalane + Probiotic Gel, an incredibly lightweight moisturizer that instantly calms the redness on my face. Something needed especially after a sweaty SoulCycle class. It’s left my face brighter and more balanced and lately I’ve been able to go bare face more and more because of how incredible it’s made my skin look and feel.
The last one is new to my life, it’s the Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel and let me just tell you. The bags I wear under my eyes are not designer they are from a little bit of lack of sleep from all the studying I’ve had to do this past year. I haven’t been using their eye gel for too long, but from what I can tell it’s helping to reduce the puffiness and sagginess.
I just recently learned about the standards that Biossance has created for themselves as a company and I think it’s incredible. If we hold ourselves up to high standards when it comes to how we live our lives, we probably should do the same with our skincare and the beauty industry, right?
This post was created in collaboration with Biossance, as always, all words, opinions, and photography are my own.
