Feelin' Myself through Tantra and Self Pleasure

I never imagined my journey of self-love would take me down the road of embracing my sexuality, but when I look at it from a holistic perspective — it makes perfect sense. It's a part of who I am and in order to love myself whole, I have to come to a place of acceptance of the parts of me that once were shrouded in shame and misunderstanding.

Self-pleasure is a tool that I use to tap into a deeper understanding and love and intimacy within myself and when I can deepen the understanding of my own pleasure I’m able to better communicate that more to my partners.

Every morning I spend time getting to know my body through movement, journaling, meditation and a little bit of tantric #selfpleasure. This time in quarantine has really given me the space to lean into the power of touch through tantra.

Tantra is a spiritual practice that involves exploring your personal identity. It’s a practice that’s less about performance and more about pleasure, deep connection, and solo intimate pleasure. It’s not about getting off, but slowing down and getting to know yourself erotically.

If you’re looking to try tantric masturbation here are some tips:

  1. Set an intention. Remember there are no goals in tantra. It’s all about raising your awareness and exploring your energy.

  2. Set the scene. I love to light a candle, turn on some music, and slip into something that makes me feel like a sensual goddess.

  3. Grab your tools. I like to use a yoni egg, crystal or glass pleasure wand and my favorite Foria Wellness Awaken Arousal CBD Oil during my practice to help tap into my pleasure.

  4. GO SLOW and focus on your breath! This is all about enjoying your body and the journey and like I said it’s not about an orgasm. If you have one, great! Think of it as a gift to yourself.

  5. Relax, don’t stress, and worship your body because you deserve it. Let go of all expectations and focus on what feels good.

Once you remove the goal and pressure of orgasm from sex you’ll begin to lean into pleasure in your experience. Doing this has truly opened a deeper understanding of my body’s needs and has helped me communicate them more effectively both in and out of the bedroom.
